Swiss jewellery history
Originally
founded in Langnau near Berne in 1898, Emil Frieden moved his workshop in 1907 to
Thun, a thriving town on Lake of Thun and gateway to the Bernese Oberland where
he successfully offered “genuine Swiss filigree work” to tourists.
Today, the Frieden jewellery manufacturer’s head office is still based at Hauptgasse 37 in the historical old town of
Thun. The property served Emil Frieden and his descendants as a residential-
and commercial building with a shop and workshops until the 1960s.
The wholesales business was increasingly successful, more production space was
needed and the former living rooms were converted into offices and workshops
where our designers, goldsmiths and jewellers work in an inspiring atmosphere.

FRIEDEN has maintained an international network of retailers for decades. In addition to our own boutique in Thun, we offer our exquisite pieces of jewellery at leading jewellers in Switzerland as well as selectively chosen specialist retailers abroad.
