The white gold jewellery set ARABESQUE is inspired by nature: leaves and tendrils evoke romantic feelings, and the additional adornment with bright green peridots emphasises the connection to nature. This gemstone was already used in the Middle Ages and was particularly popular in the Art Nouveau period.
ARABESQUE is part of our anniversary collection, which draws on the stylistic features of past eras and incorporates elements of the fashion trends of those times – a homage to the founding period and the home of Frieden.

“For our 125th anniversary, we have created four jewellery collections that revive the founding period of Frieden. With the Arabesque collection, we particularly wanted to incorporate the breathtaking nature of the Bernese Oberland. When I walk through nature with open eyes, especially around Lake Thun, I always find new inspiration.
Art Nouveau is characterised by flowing, curved lines that often resemble plants, flowers, or insects. These organic forms are meant to reflect the liveliness and dynamism of nature. The gentle curves and natural shapes of the peridots and diamonds reflect the typical aesthetics of this artistic era.”

OVER 125 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
At the beginning, there was a silversmith with a sense of beauty, skilled hands, and the courage to open a workshop to produce silver filigree jewellery for the rural population’s traditional attire.
A generation later, from 1970 onwards, two important pillars were added by Thomas Frieden, G.G. GIA and expert of the Swiss Gemmological Society: direct purchasing and trading of gemstones and cultured pearls. Thanks to the professional expertise, market knowledge, and a global network of relationships built over decades, Frieden is able to offer exceptional rarities, particularly in the field of coloured gemstones.
Frieden AG is still a family-owned enterprise. In early 2018, the shares were transferred from the Frieden family to Patrick and Brigitte Aeschbacher, who have been running the company with the same passion as their predecessors ever since. Brigitte Aeschbacher continually surprises with the development of exclusive collections featuring diamonds and coloured gemstones.
